Into the Score, probably the greatest podcast dedicated to the "academic study of video game music" (and the only one to come out of Winnipeg) is alive! Winnipeg's Kenley Kristofferson puts a lot of thought and effort into his podcasts so I'm not surprised that, when life gets busy, he had to take some time off. I try to listen to it whenever there's something new and, much of the time, most of what he and his guests are talking about go wayyyy over my head. This is largely in part because I'm not a classically-trained musician (though I do love my 5 string Fender), but that doesn't mean there's nothing to get out of Into the Score; If you find yourself wanting to know exactly why you love the music in your favourite video games then you owe it to yourself to subscribe to Kenley's show, as he goes into extreme detail over, well, all the little details your favourite composers put into their work.
Speaking of which, Dragon Quest VIII is next on his list.
One thing that's up for discussion is the show's mandate, stated in the first sentence of this post. One of his forum's commenters pointed out that it's not really an "academic" study if his work isn't going through academic peer review processes of any kind. I'd suggest calling it a "classical analysis of video game music", personally, but perhaps Aboot Play's readership has some thoughts on the matter for Double K to take away?
Subscribe to Into the Score on iTunes, Zune Marketplace, or through the site itself. Also, follow Double K on Twitter, you know, just for the eff of it. Welcome back Kenley.

Hey Ryan!
Thanks for all of the kind words! It's good to be back! It's also nice to see some Canuck gamers writing about games too - keep up the awesome work!
I really appreciate the shoutout!
Kenley!
