One of Ontario's big mega-LANs is approaching. Lanapalooza is taking place inside a hockey arena (probably not on the ice) in Aurora, Ontario (here's a map, it's north of Toronto). There's already over 200 people who've registered for the all-night gaming party, and considering some of the prizes up for grabs I imagine many more will register as well.
There's gonna be all sorts of prizes and such for those who're up for some multi-player all-nighter gaming (sleeping bags are encouraged!). Companies contributing booty this year include AMD (who not only make fast CPUs but video cards too, since they bought ATI), Antec (known for their kick-ass PC gaming cases and accessories), Steel Series (headsets, mouse pads, other accessories), and the other-worldly Alienware (gaming PCs and accesories). The Counterstrike prizes are currently up to $1300 and $1400 for CS: Source and CS: 1.6 respectively. The more that register, the higher the dollar count. I hear there are less than a hundred spots left for PC gaming...
It's not all PC gaming, though. The D.O.R.K. Army will be at the LAN and they'll be bring a bunch of Xbox 360s for people who wanna get their Halo and Street Fighter IV on. Not sure if they're gonna have any prizes going, but you can always just ask their generals. I'm gonna see if we can get in and shoot some video of this thing, as I've never actually been to a LAN of this size before... Check out the site for more info on entry fees (girls get in free) and prizes.

June 20th you say?? Why that's fathers day! It's a good thing a lot of dads like games too, this is why we would like to invite any dads who come with their sons/daughters to get into the event and play completely free! This LAN is father friendly!!
WHO WANTS TO HELP??
If you arrive on Friday morning early you will be lucky enough to have the chance to help us setup! As payment you will recieve a reduced entrance fee of only $20, and as a bonus if you stay and help clean up at the end of the event, you will get that $20 back! WOW! We are also looking for event staff, server admins and referees. Please drop us a line if your interested in helping and to find out more.
What will we eat?
As always we will have Pizzaville hot and ready throughout the entire tournament and the energy drinks will flow like water. Bawls, Rockstar, Monster, and Redbull are on the menu. We are looking into possible catering for the event and will post info as it becomes available.
Where can we sleep?
Due to the large space we have available, a small tent would be the most private way to rest up and is completely acceptable. Most people just bring an air mattress and a sleeping bag, then sleep near or at (or under) their desk, which is just fine as well. If you leave with any hardware between the hours of 11pm to 8am you MUST check out with a staff member and your outgoing hardware will be logged. There will be an active camera and DVR system keeping watch over the entire event this year so keep in mind that any actions you take while at the event are being recorded.
Well that pretty much wraps it up for now, we will keep you posted as our event shapes up.
